Kariya's deal should open floodgates

Now that Paul Kariya has ended his holdout and come to terms withAnaheim, watch for some of the NHL's other soon-to-be free-agentsuperstars to cash in.

First up will be Eric Lindros of the Flyers, whose father/agent,Carl, is scheduled to meet with Flyers general manager Bob Clarke onWednesday to begin negotiating a new contract in earnest.

Lindros likely will be looking at a deal that begins in the $10million-per-season neighborhood based on the terms of Kariya's pact.The deal between the Mighty Ducks and Kariya is for two years -$5.5 million the first year (prorated so Kariya gets $3.5 million andthe other $2 million goes to charities in Orange County, Calif.) …
