NSW: Oppn calls for inquiry over prison bashing

SYDNEY, Feb 29 AAP - A prisoner who was bashed in jail was granted early parole to
spare the New South Wales government the responsibility for his welfare, the NSW opposition
claimed today.
Calling for a public inquiry, opposition corrective services spokesman Brad Hazzard
said Carl Ringe, 30, had been serving a four-month sentence in Silverwater jail after
being convicted of driving while disqualified.
