NSW: Firefighters end strike and accept in principle deal
A week-long strike by half of New South Wales' professional firefighters has ended.
A general meeting of the Fire Brigades Employees Union has voted to accept in-principle a
revised deal on death and disability benefits for firefighters employed after 1985.
The deal was put to them by the NSW Fire Brigades last week.
NSW Fire Brigades Commissioner IAN MacDOUGALL says he's pleased that proper death and
disability benefits are now in place for all firefighters.
The union has agreed to lift all bans at 6pm (AEST) today.
