Overcrowding

BRISBANE, Dec 28 AAP - Owners and managers of licensed premises have been warned to
avoid overcrowding their patrons and compromising their safety during New Year celebrations.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority (QFAR) Graeme Thom said that most owners and managers
were highly responsible but there were concerns that a small minority might put lives
at risk by allowing overcrowding in pubs, clubs and entertainment venues for millenium
celebrations.

The QFAR has held talks with police in various parts of the state on crowd management, he said.
